Hi, I’m Kyle Murphy

Who I Am

I have had a variety of roles. I am a therapist. I’m also a musician, a pastor, a dad, and a husband among other things. I know what it feels like to juggle these various responsibilities. I have been able to spend years hearing the stories of students, families and individuals trying to figure out how to get through life. Spiritual issues, burnout, grief, anxiety are all things that seemed so common.

Several years ago, I went through a deep season of self-evaluation and questioning that reshaped much of how I understood myself and my life. A lot of my life felt like it was falling apart. Some of it was my own fault and some of it was out of my control. With the support and care of others, I found a way forward that felt more authentic.

I

In 2021 I spent a lot of time reevaluating my life again. I gave a lot of thought to what it was that brought me to the work I was doing. The thing that kept coming back were the stories and the people. The moments in which I felt most fulfilled was when I had the gift helping others find a way forward.

That’s ultimately what gave me the motivation to become a licensed counselor. I wanted more tools to do this work well.

I currently work at a private practice called Milk and Honey Counseling in Mooresville, NC (about a mile from Davidson College). If you’d like to read more about our practice, you can click the link above to check it out.

Outside the office, I love spending time with my family. We enjoy checking out local parks and hikes around the area. I also play music around town, so you might find me at a jam, reading way too many books, enjoying good coffee, or playing games. (I love good strategy and board games!)
